Prescription Oral Retinoids are used only in severe cases of acne, where the lesions are cystic and not responding to other modalities of treatment. This medication is not suitable for woman pregnant/wanting to fall pregnant, and due to the strength of the medication, baseline bloods and a medical examination is necessary. This treatment of acne is best used in winter, as the skin becomes very dry, and very sensitive to the sun.
